Je viens de lire l'article sur nba.com, super aigri, sous-entendant assez lourdement que Nowitzki, Nash et Parker ne méritaient pas vraiment, mais n'étaient là que pour leur réputation. Je vois d'où ça sort pour Dirk, mais TP...

Bref, j'suis super contente pour lui. Bien sûr que c'est mérité, le bilan des Spurs ne sort pas de nulle part, il a porté l'équipe sur ses épaules, et il l'a fait avec brio ces dernières semaines.

nba.com, ils m'énervent de plus en plus...c'est vrai que Dirk c'est peut-être un peu tiré par les cheveux, mais TP, il n'y a aucun doute..les Spurs sont tout de même deuxième à l'ouest sans Manu !

Vous avez vu que Williams a été préféré à Rondo à l'est..pour moi c'est peut-être la seule vraie surprise.

Voici l'article en question. C'est du grand n'importe quoi. Ils disent que TP n'a pas sa place mais quand ils parlent de lui, ils n'en disent que du bien ! C'est quoi ça? L'effet Eva Longoria?


West reserves expose inconsistent message from coaches

A mixed message.

That's what was sent out by the league's coaches in the selection of the Western Conference reserves for the 2012 All-Star Game.


Game in and game out, from coast to coast, on every court in every arena, in every nook and cranny of the league, coaches preach that results matter, not reputations.

Then they mostly chose familiar big names over raw results when adding Dallas' Dirk Nowizki, Phoenix' Steve Nash and San Antonio's Tony Parker to the West roster. It will be Nowitzki's 11th consecutive All-Star appearance, the eighth of Nash's career and fourth for Parker.

Joining that gray-bearded, grizzled threesome with a combined 41 NBA seasons between them are LaMarcus Aldridge of the Trail Blazers, Kevin Love of the Timberwolves, Russell Westbrook of the Thunder and Marc Gasol of the Grizzlies. Aldridge and Gasol will be making their All-Star debuts, while Westbrook and Love will play for the second time.

But experience counts. That seems to be the point hammered home by the coaches' selections that overlooked at least a handful of worthy candidates:

• Kyle Lowry, Houston -- He's the only player in the league averaging as much at 14.8 points, 5.8 rebounds and 7.9 assists per game. But he is toiling for a Houston team that lacks overall star power.

• Monta Ellis, Golden State -- He ranks sixth in the league in scoring with an average of 22.6 points a game and carried the Warriors' offensive load when Stephen Curry was sidelined with an ankle injury. But he plays for a team with a losing record.

• Rudy Gay, Memphis -- He's the leading scorer for a Grizzlies team that has battled to keep their heads above water ever since big man Zach Randolph went down with torn knee ligaments. Despite the fact that he has lifted his level of play, Gay seems to have lost out to his teammate Gasol.

• Paul Millsap and Al Jefferson, Utah -- The Jazz have hit a rough patch lately, but the pair of big men have performed strong and consistently all season in keeping coach Ty Corbin's team firmly in the Western Conference mix.

• Danilo Gallinari and Ty Lawson, Denver -- Until dropping six of seven games over the past two weeks, the Nuggets were a huge success story holding down the No. 2 seed in the West. Gallinari's shooting percentage is down, but he's been all over the floor doing everything. Lawson was the one with his foot down on the accelerator of the offense over the first month. Yet the Nuggets were not recognized at all.

For Aldridge, the recognition comes a year after he first deserved a spot on the West roster. But that's when he learned about the politics of the voting and getting snubbed.

The only reason Love is a reserve and not a starter is because the fan voting rewarded the slam-bang flash and slam dunks of the Blake Griffin in the starting lineup.

Westbrook is a no-brainer, riding shotgun with Thunder teammate (and West starter) Kevin Durant, while ranking eighth in scoring a 22.3 points a game.

Marc Gasol has done yeoman work in the middle, averaging 15.2 points and 10 rebounds and rung up 14 double-doubles on the season. Coincidentally, that's the same number of double-doubles accumulated by his older brother Pau Gasol, who also was left off team.

On different levels, the selections of Parker, Nash and Nowitzki ran the gamut from surprising to downright shocking. That is especially so after Nowitzki said just recently that he didn't think he belonged on the team.

Though he has come on strong of late, Nowitzki's 17.6 scoring average is his lowest since the 1999-2000 season, his second in the league.

Nash, who turned 38 this week, seemed to join Nowitzki in getting a lifetime achievement award. He is averaging 15.1 points and leading the league with 10 assists per game, but plays for a worse team than Lowry's Rockets.

Parker had said he was disappointed that he didn't make the team a year ago in Los Angeles, because he'd wanted to join his San Antonio teammates Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili and coach Gregg Popovich. The three-time former NBA champion likely surged to his spot on the team with his play of late. He's average 28.4 points over the Spurs' past five games and, with Ginobili out and Duncan's minutes being capped, he has carried the Spurs to the second-best record (18-9) in the West. While it's hard to say that names such as Nowitzki, Nash and Parker don't conjure up All-Star images, in the end the coaches proved themselves no more resistible to names and reputations as the fans in delivering their mixed message.

Ouais, c'est bizarre pour Tony. Mais il n'a jamais fait l'unanimité là-bas, je sais pas trop pourquoi. Le gars est futur hall of famer à coups sûrs, ça doit en faire chier plus d'un. Après Lowry fait une énorme saison et Houston, à ma grande surprise, est 4ème, mais comme l'avait dit je sais plus qui ici, Tony est très bon depuis des années. Le All Star Game ça se mérite.

Eleven years into Spurs career, Parker continues to shine

Back in the summer of 2001, Tony Parker was a French teenager who came to San Antonio and probably couldn't tell the Alamo from Al Pacino. But he was familiar with another celebrated local institution.
Remember Avery Johnson.
"When I first arrived that's all anybody talked about," Parker said. "He was a great leader. He meant a lot to the city. He won a championship."
All the Spurs wanted the skinny kid to do was replace the only point guard that had ever led the team to an NBA title.
So he won three.

All coach Gregg Popovich expected was for a 19-year-old to jump behind the wheel and drive the offense like he'd just been tossed the keys to the family car.
So he floored the pedal and zoomed off.
Now, 11 years later, Parker has supplanted Johnson as the franchise all-time assist leader, going to the top of the list when he fed Tim Duncan for a pick-and-pop jumper at the top of the key a week ago against the Thunder.
It was a Magic Johnson pass that set up Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the NBA's all-time scoring leader in 1984. It was a pass to Karl Malone that put John Stockton ahead of Magic as the league's all-time assist leader in 1995.
"That's exactly the feeling I had -- Magic to Jabbar, Stockton to Malone," Parker said. "I wanted it to be Timmy. We've been playing so long together, been through so much over the years."
All of it under the cracking whip, searing glare and withering sarcasm of Popovich. That might have melted another young point guard. But it always seems to elicit just a Parisian shrug and a smile from Parker.
Popovich can be as crusty as a week-old baguette. It takes a certain je ne sais quoi from Parker, who simply swallows it like goose liver pate.
You see them on the sidelines together or on the occasions when an angry Popovich stomps out onto the court at the start of a timeout. It's like watching an old married couple that knows each other's favorite routines, arguments and wisecracks.
"He's been here a long time," Popovich said with just the slightest giveaway hint of a grin. "He should have a lot of assists."
Those assists will naturally pile up when you're a point guard playing with the likes of Duncan and Manu Ginobili, a pair of certain future Hall of Famers. But for more than a decade Parker has been so much more than a mere table-setter, usually juggling the role of a primary scorer -- attacking the basket, pulling up for jumpers -- at the same time that he's dealing.
It's that balancing act that is most precarious, drawing the verbal wrath of Popovich if Parker starts to pull the trigger too much and bringing down the thunder if Popovich determines his point guard is passing too much.

"It's funny, when Pop yells at me and tells me I have to shoot a lot I have a big night," Parker said with the shrug, having dropped in 42 on the same night he set the Spurs' assist record.
"When he scores I tell him he needs to pass," Popovich half-jokes, "and when he assists, I tell him he needs to score more."
Since the day the Spurs first got a glimpse of the kid from Paris Racing Basket during a private workout in Chicago prior to the 2001 Draft, they thought they had dug up something, just maybe not the polished diamond that now can wear those gaudy championship rings.
When the Spurs made him the 28th pick in the Draft and sent him to his first NBA camp, general manager R.C. Buford got calls from his assistant coaches saying the kid could play in San Antonio right away.
Buford was doubtful. So was Popovich, who said that summer: "I think of him as down the road."
One week into his NBA career, Parker was starting. Now, way down the road, he finds himself as the 11-year veteran with one Finals MVP Award (2007) on his shelf and the fate of the Spurs in his mitts through the first six weeks of this season. Ginobili is mending from a broken bone in his hand and the soon-to-be 36-year-old Duncan is on a short leash with his minutes.
Nothing has changed with Parker; not the ability to score, pass or handle the burdens placed on him by Popovich. Not his penchant for saying what's on his mind, as the occasion last spring when, after the upset loss to Memphis in the first round of the playoffs, Parker went home to France and told reporters that he thought the Spurs' days as real contenders were over.
Would the Spurs finally trade that insouciance for a younger, newer model? They did draft Cory Joseph out of the University of Texas last June, but they also swapped Parker's backup George Hill to Indiana on the same night.
Talk about a vote of confidence. So much for any thought that he'd worn out his welcome.
Since Ginobili went down in the fifth game of the season, Parker has been the one stopping the Spurs from slipping over the edge. He's averaging a career-best 7.7 assists per game and can still drop 40 on any night. In the past five games, he's averaged 28.4 points and, on Thursday, was named to his fourth Western Conference All-Star team.
"He's done a great job of keeping us together," Popovich said.
All these years after learning of the local institutions in San Antonio, Tony Parker has become one.
